Juan Eymar was born in Madrid where he trained as a dancer with Lola de Ávila and Carmen Roche. He began his professional career at the age of 14, dancing his first principal roles in excerpts of Classical Ballets and works by choreographers based in Spain at the time, like Toni Fabre and Ramón Oller. After 3 years gathering experience in the Spanish Stage Juan continued his journey in leading european companies like the Zurich Ballet, The Bavarian State Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet, where he performed group, soloist and principal
roles, in both classical ballet and works by great choreographers of the XXth century such as Balanchine, Cranko, Mac Millan, Van Manen, Mats Ek, W. Forsythe, Kylian, etc.
In 2012, after years of struggle with a back injury, Juan decided to stop dancing and ventured into other dance-related areas that allowed him to continue making a contribution to the Dance World. He went on experimenting with choreography, something that he had begun in 2009 in the Workshops of the Dutch National Ballet; he finished a Masters Degree in Cultural Management, further developed his knowledge about methodology and pedagogy and studied all kinds of body techniques in search of the body/mind balance and a solution to his own injuries. This search brought him to find GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®, methodology in which he became certified in 2011.
Since 2012 Juan, has been a guest teacher in various International companies and schools that include the Royal ballet of Flanders, The Zurich Ballet, the Estonian National Ballet, Ballet Graz, The High Conservatory of Dance CSDMA in Madrid, The Jean M. Wong School of Dance Hong Kong, Steps Manila etc. as well as a freelance choreographer and GYROTONIC® instructor.
Today, Juan is a teacher at the English National Ballet School.
